Officials: Two Men Arrested in Centereach after Police Witness Drug Transaction

Centereach, NY - January 3, 2019 - Suffolk County Police today arrested two men after officers witnessed a drug deal in Centereach on Wednesday, January 2.
 
Fourth Precinct Crime Section Officers Nicholas Divaris and Thomas O’Brien witnessed two men make a drug transaction in a 2007 white Mercedes in front of a residence on North Howell Avenue at approximately 2:15 p.m. The officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop at Middle Country Road in Lake Grove but the driver, Anthony Corria fled. Corria intentionally struck the police vehicle that Officers Divaris and O’Brien were in at the intersection of Ginger Court and Whispering Pines Court in Centereach at approximately 2:26 p.m. Corria, and his passenger, Steve Jameau fled on foot. There were no injuries.
 
Corria was immediately arrested. Aviation Section, Canine Section and Sixth Precinct Patrol Section officers assisted searching for Jameau. Jameau was caught hiding in a garage at a residence on Forrest Ave., Centereach at approximately 3 p.m.
 
Fourth Squad detectives charged Corria, 33, of Shoreham, with Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree. Jameau, 34, of Centereach, was charged with two counts of Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, Criminal Trespass 3rd Degree, Resisting Arrest and had 8 unrelated warrants.
 
The investigation is continuing.
 
Corria and Jameau are scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on January 3.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
