DWI Driver Hits Unoccupied Vehicle and Flees the Scene with 7-Year-Old Son on New Year's Day, Arrested

Ronkonkoma, NY - January 1, 2017 - Suffolk County Police today arrested a Centereach man for driving while intoxicated with his child in the vehicle after he was involved in a motor vehicle crash in Ronkonkoma.

Julio Euceda was driving a 1998 Ford eastbound on Johnson Avenue when his vehicle struck an unoccupied 2004 Ford. Euceda exited the vehicle and then fled on foot westbound on Johnson Avenue. Fourth Precinct patrol officers responded and located Euceda with his 7-year-old son a short distance away.

Fourth Squad detectives charged Euceda, 32, of Centereach, with Aggravated Driving While Under the Influence of Drugs or Alcohol with a Child Passenger 15 Years Old or Younger (Leandra’s Law), Acting in a Manner To Injure a Child, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 1st Degree, Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Property Damage and Use of a Vehicle Without Interlock Device.

Neither Euceda nor his child was injured.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
