Greenwich Village Couple Harbors Weapons And Explosives

Written by Robert Ottone  |  02. January 2013

Manhattan debutante and new mother Morgan Gliedman was arrested alongside her Harvard-educated boyfriend Aaron Greene for allegedly storing hefty amounts of explosives, gun powder and weapons in their chic Greenwich Village apartment. The incident frightened neighbors and those in the general area, as many recalled an incident that occurred in 1970 where the Weather Underground movement detonated a pipe bomb that leveled a nearby townhouse. Gliedman and Greene are said to have been storing a sawed-off shotgun, ammunition, a flare launcher and Hexamethylene Triperoxide Diamine, a powerful explosive powder.

Gliedman is a graduate of Manhattan’s prestigious Dalton prep school and the daughter of one of New York Magazine’s top doctors of 2012. Gliedman was also arrested back in February for stealing a man’s backpack, containing a laptop and credit cards. Around that time, police arrested Greene for shooting heroin in a parked car. Upon arrest, he admitted to having a rifle in the trunk of his car. Greene received five months behind bars.

Neighbors described the couple as “hippies,” however, one neighbor, upon hearing of Gliedman and Greene’s stash of weaponry stated "I’m absolutely enraged some idiotic rich girl was messing around with explosives 100 feet from where I live.”

The couple also kept a library of books ranging on topics such as bomb-making to weapon-creation. Titles such as “Booby Traps” and “A Do-It-Yourself Submachine Gun” were apparently popular reading in the Gliedman-Greene household. Gliedman, not long after being arrested, reportedly gave birth, welcoming baby Melody into the world. Perhaps these Terrorist Hipsters could replace their weapon-making library with the works of Dr. Seuss. Green Eggs and High-Powered Rifles, perhaps?
