NCPD: Two In Critical Condition Following DWI-Crash in Massapequa

The Homicide Squad reports the arrest of a Ronkonkoma man for Driving While Intoxicated that occurred on Thursday, January 1, 2026 at 2:00 a.m. in Massapequa.
 
According to Detectives, a 32-year-old male was operating a 2021 Mercedes westbound in the eastbound lanes of Sunrise Highway in the vicinity of Louden Avenue when he struck a 2015 Acura being operated by a 30-year-old male. Both operators were the sole occupants and were transported to local area hospitals where they are listed in critical condition.
 
After a thorough investigation, the operator of the Mercedes, defendant, Tasabbir Hossain, 32, of 128 Warren Avenue was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.
 
Defendant Hossain is charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Vehicular Assault 2nd Degree, Driving While Intoxicated and Reckless Driving. He will be arraigned when medically practical.
