Wild Cats

10 Mar, 2012 10:20 a.m.

My boyfriends sister is frustrated because in the last year a handful of neighborhood cats (in Smithtown) have been prowling their yard, making annoying noise, and scaring away birds and other less annoying animals. Because so many people have outdoor cats, there are no restrictions for it in the town. Anyone have any good suggestions for dealing with feral, non-native pests?

When the ground thaws and you have the water turned out outside, I've heard that the motion detector sprinklers work really well.

It is supposed to be able to scare the cats away, since they think someone is in the yard, and they can't predict when they'd get sprayed. Although, depending on the size of the yard, you may need multiple units
