The Welwyn Nature Preserve is a situated on the former estate of Harold Irving Pratt, heir to an oil fortune, spreads over 200-acres of land. Visitors are offered four marked nature trails along a wooded stream valley, fresh water ponds and swamps, and a stretch of Long Island Sound shoreline. The preserve boasts over 100 species of birds and small native mammals. Also on the Preserve's grounds is the Holocaust Memorial and Educational Center.
