Rolling River Day Camp is a second-generation, family-owned and operated summer day camp in Nassau County that serves as an extension to a child’s primary education. Rolling River focuses on creating out-of-classroom learning experiences that develop socialization, cooperation and other intangible life skills. The program is hosted on a 5+ acre, private and enclosed riverside campus. Approximately 600-700 campers attend each summer.
Rolling River’s mission is to encourage campers to “embark on life’s voyage”, meaning that their experience at camp should result in learning a new activity, mastering a skill or building a new relationship. The expected outcome varies by age: 3-5 year olds learn independence, grades 1-4 experiment with a variety of activities, grades 5-8 explore options on and off-campus and grades 9-10 grow and mature from campers to counselors.
Rolling River accomplishes their mission by creating an intimate, family atmosphere that fosters self-exploration. Campers feel comfortable trying new activities with encouragement from genuine and caring staff members. In every group and program area, Rolling River assigns adults for adequate supervision as well as high school or college students to mentor campers and have fun! Rolling River also provides superior customer service with a consistent and approachable leadership team that partners with parents to satisfy a child’s individual needs and goals.
As one of the top day camps on Long Island, Rolling River provides substantial offerings of age-appropriate activities for campers ages 3-15. All campers swim twice daily in one of three heated, onsite pools for both instruction and free swim. Campers also participate in a variety of recreational programs including athletics, creative arts, boating, playgrounds, special events and off-campus trips. As campers get older, the program includes more customization through hobby and choice periods.
Rolling River’s program is all-inclusive and offers innovative session options. All campers receive door-to-door bus transportation, onsite dining and certified health center services. The full camp day runs from 9:00am-4:00pm and a mini day option is available for Nursery and PreK campers. Campers may select a Classic Program for 4, 6 or 8 weeks or a Flexible Program with the option to choose the number of days or weeks.
Rolling River is accredited by the American Camp Association and licensed by the Nassau County Board of Health. Rolling River is also open year-round for birthday parties, holiday camps, festivals, reunion events, sports rentals and more.
