Just 30 minutes from Manhattan is a high-end, private 18-hole golf course with a distinctly Jewish heritage that it still embraces. Designed by A.W. Tillinghast in 1923 and originally located in Flushing, the course was crowded out by a housing development in the 40s and eventually re-established here under the supervision of H.S. Colt and Charles Alison. Famous celebrities such as Ty Cob, Joe Lewis and Babe Ruth have all enjoyed the wide, tree-lined fairways, two lakes that form water hazards, lovely scenery every step of the course and small, fast and undulating greens. Excellent maintenance further showcases the fine features of Fresh Meadow. In addition to the golf course, members can enjoy the driving range, practice areas, tennis courts, swimming pool, Pro shop, locker rooms and the gourmet food from the kosher kitchen of the opulent clubhouse restaurant. Special events such as weddings and bar mitzvahs can seat 350 guests. The club is open from mid-April until mid-October.
