Sing-a-long for the Holidays

Written by Fran  |  28. December 2011

Mastic Beach, New York - Kindergartens in the William Floyd School District Hobart Elementary School lifted the spirits of their parents and community members at the Annual Holiday Kindergarten Sing-a-long. Under the direction of Music teachers Barbara Sapanaro and Ralph Guasp, kindergarteners learned more than nineteen songs. Practicing for more than a month, the students learned the words to such songs as Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Feliz Navidad, Dreidel, Jingle Bells, Frosty, Light the Candle, and the Twelve Days of Christmas. The kindergarteners learned all the words, sign language, hand movements, and dance steps to accompany each and every song at this holiday performance. These five-year old children were amazing, talented, and very professional. Principal James Westcott said, "This is the first event of the school year for the parents, grandparents, and members of the community. It's a happy time and a great opportunity to see the student accomplishments." At the conclusion of the performance, the parents were invited back to the classrooms for refreshments. There, everyone waited with anticipation for Santa Claus AKA Paul Coraci, Hobart Elementary head custodian. Santa presented holiday pencils, donated by the PTO, to the children.
