Family-Friendly Kwanzaa Events This Weekend
Kwanzaa, which is observed December 26 through January 1, is a week-long celebration of African-American culture. Here are four places where you can bring the family and join in the festivities.
African American Museum of Nassau County

Saturday, December 28 at 1 p.m.
Admission $5
The African American Museum of Nassau County (AAMNC) is one of only two African American museums in the northeast. It features exhibits, collections, and programs that promote the understanding and appreciation of African American culture and art, with an emphasis on Long Island. The museum will be having its Annual Kwanzaa Celebration on Saturday, December 28 at 1 p.m.

Saturday, December 28 at 2 p.m.
Ages 3+ Free with admission. General admission is $14.
The Zeta Phi Beta sorority and Long Island Children's Museum representatives will guide children through a hands-on learning and craft-making program as they explore the rich traditions and the meaning behind Kwanzaa.
Sunday, December 29
33 Hawthorne Avenue, Central Islip, 1 – 3:30 p.m.
The Central Islip Public Library will be hosting a Kwanzaa celebration filled with music, speakers, and art displays. There will also be a toy giveaway for the children.
Half Hollow Hills Community Library at Chestnut Hill School

The Mother’s Club of Wheatley Heights, in conjunction with the Concerned Fathers of Wheatley Heights and the Library, will be presenting a Kwanzaa celebration. Refreshments will be available.
