East Patchogue Fireworks Accident Leaves Man Seriously Injured; Suffolk Police Arson Detectives Investigating, Victim Medevac’d to Hospital

A 65-year-old East Patchogue man was seriously injured in a fireworks accident and airlifted by medevac as Suffolk County Police investigate.

Suffolk County Police Arson Section detectives are investigating a firework accident that seriously injured a man in East Patchogue yesterday afternoon.
 
John Philpotts-Kerr was handling fireworks inside an apartment, located at 138 Pine Neck Ave., when the firework unexpectedly detonated in his lap, injuring his groin.
 
Philpotts-Kerr, 65, a resident of the home, was transported via medevac helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious physical injuries. There were no other injuries reported.
