NCPD: Suspect Arrested After Attempted Burglary of Great Neck Residence

Great Neck, NY - December 20, 2017 - The Third Squad reports the arrest for an Attempted Burglary that occurred at 11:05pm on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 in Great Neck.
 
According to Detectives, defendant Kevin Avalos-Melendez, 21, of Great Neck did approach the rear of a residence on Beach Road, went to a bedroom window and cut the screen attempting to gain entry through the window. The male victim, 64, heard the noise and contacted the Police. 
 
Officers observed the defendant in the rear of the building and when they attempted to speak to him he ran away. Officers located the defendant on Middle Neck Road and subsequent to the investigation he was placed into custody at 12:57am. No injuries were reported.
 
Defendant Kevin Avalos-Melendez is charged with Burglary 2nd Degree.  He will be arraigned on Wednesday December 20, 2017 in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
