Last Friday, the unthinkable happened – a lone gunman, later identified as Adam Lanza, entered Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT, and gunned down 26 people, including 20 young students, before taking his own life. In the days since this tragedy, countless people worldwide have expressed their sympathy and condolences for the Newtown community, and this upcoming Friday, December 21st, at 9:30AM EST, the international community will band together for the “Walk 27” Event, which will pay tribute to the lives lost during horrible, senseless massacre.

“Walk 27” was organized by Kevin Vanover, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, and is presented by Above Average Entertainment. In response to the Sandy Hook Shootings, Vanover organized a Facebook Page paying tribute to the shooting victims, and is now utilizing that page to orchestrate the “Walk 27” Events around the globe. The page has already gained over 380k “Likes” on Facebook, and people from around the world have been utilizing the page to express their condolences with the families of the victims, and share their thoughts and prayers. As these deaths are mourned, many have been looking for a way to honor the shooting victims and provide support to Newtown, which is how the “Walk 27” was created.

“Walk 27” Events are taking place worldwide, starting at 9:30AM EST – supporters are asked to wear the Sandy Hook school colors, green and white, as they walk for twenty seven minutes to honor and remember the victims of the shooting. At 9:57AM, when the walk has been completed, there will be bubbles blown in remembrance. Anyone interested in attending a local event, or organizing one within their local community can do so by RSVPing to Event Page put together by Vanover on Facebook.
