Christmas is a time for fun and what could be more fun than throwing a themed Christmas party! Not only do you get to be creative and come up with a fun theme, you have an excuse to get everyone together for the holidays. Nowadays ugly Christmas sweater parties are really in, as are cookie exchanges, but you can mold you party anyway you want. If you’re stuck on a theme though, check out these cheerful Christmas party ideas!

Ugly Sweater Party
Everyone knows right now is prime time for hideous, and hilarious, holiday sweaters. Take advantage of this time of year by inviting your buds over but with one stipulation – everyone has to come decked out in an ugly sweater of their choice. Guests can go the simple route and just buy one from the store or get really creative and make one of their own! Make it into a contest too, ugliest sweater wins a prize!

Holiday Movie Marathon Party
There are so many great holiday movies out there, so why not make that the theme for your party! Invite over all of your movie loving friends, make popcorn drizzled with chocolate and pick 4 great holiday movies to watch together! From Christmas classics like Miracle on 34th Street and It’s a Wonderful Life, to Christmas comedies like A Christmas Story and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, you won’t be lax on movie titles to choose from for your holiday movie marathon party.

Cookie Exchange Party
This tasty party is sure to be a hit with your holiday guests! When you send out your invites ask all of your guests to bring along a tray of cookies. Try to keep track of who is bringing what type of cookie too, that your party has a nice array and variety of cookies without too many doubles. Home baked is better but if your guests are really that terrible at baking you can let them slide and purchase a tray to bring instead.

Gift Wrapping Party
If you’re one of those people who dreads wrapping up Christmas presents every year, then this party is the perfect party for you! Instead of being frustrated by yourself and brooding over wrapping paper that won’t fold right, invite friends over and share the experience together. You can help one another out, swap & share wrapping materials, chit chat while you wrap and sip on some Christmas cocktails, or hot chocolate, while you do so.

What kind of festivities do you have planned for this holiday season? Let us know in the comments!
