Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed one man and seriously injured another in Commack yesterday afternoon.
 
Alexandre Paul was driving a 2002 Honda Odyssey eastbound on Veterans Memorial Highway when he attempted to turn left onto Apple Lane and was struck by a westbound 2016 National Grid Freightliner truck at approximately 4:40 p.m.
 
A passenger in the Honda, Joseph Dor, 99, of Wyandanch, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. Paul, 67, of Wyandanch, was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip for treatment of serious injuries. The driver of the Freightliner, Dennis Worsdale, 22, of Lindenhurst, was not injured.
 
The Honda was impounded for a safety check. Suffolk County Police Motor Carrier Section inspected and released the National Grid truck at the scene.
