Crime Update: Man Arrested for Brentwood Hit-and-Run, Three Men Wanted for Robbery

Man Arrested for Brentwood Hit-and-Run
A man was arrested Monday after being accused of killing a pedestrian in Brentwood after a hit-and-run crash. The fatal crash took place at around 10 p.m. on Saturday night.
 
That night Santos Amaya, 31, of Central Isip was walking down Islip Avenue when he was hit by a 2007 Toyota Corrolla. After being hit he was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore by way of Brentwood Legion Ambulance and was pronounced dead upon arrival. 
 
The driver behind the wheel of the Corrolla was identified as Fredy Pavon, 47, of Brentwood. After allegedly hitting Amaya, Pavon left the scene. He was caught and arrested a few hours later. His damaged vehicle was also recovered.
 
Vehicular Crimes Unit detectives are charging Pavon with Leaving the Scene of an Incident Without Reporting Involving a Fatality. He was arraigned Sunday in the First District Court in Central Islip. The investigation in the crash is ongoing and detectives are asking anyone with information to call the Vehicular Crime Unit at 631-852-6555 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. Three Men Wanted for Robbery
First Squad detectives are currently investigating a robbery that occurred in Rockville Centre on Saturday afternoon. Detectives say a 22-year-old victim was attacked after meeting a 17-year-old male acquaintance in a White Infiniti G37 on Shellbank park. The victim ran after being met by two more male subjects in a Gray Infiniti.
 
The three subjects cornered the victim in the rear of a home, attacked him, and then stole his IPhone and cash. The cash was later recovered in the yard. The victim suffered minor injuries but refused medical attention.
 
The 17-year-old was described as 5’6’ tall, thin build, and had a short dark buzz cut hair. The other two male’s in the Gray Infiiti were described as being between the ages of 18 and 24. The first had a stocky build, and the second had a tall, medium build. Detectives request anyone with information regarding the above crime to contact Nassau Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
