Suffolk County District Attorney Timothy D. Sini and members of the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office’s Heroin Task Force have announced the arrest of a Hicksville woman for the alleged possession of crystal meth and other narcotics.

“We have seen an uptick in the sale of methamphetamines in Suffolk County over the past few months and have been developing intel on the source of those drugs, which led to our investigation of this defendant,” District Attorney Sini said. “This individual was found in possession of a cache of drugs, including almost a pound of crystal meth and more than a hundred assorted pills. I want to thank the Nassau County Police Department for their partnership on this case, as well as the members of the Heroin Task Force for their ongoing commitment to investigating, arresting and prosecuting drug dealers in our community, with a particular focus on those who are causing fatal overdoses.”

Nataliya Voronova, 31, is charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree, a class A felony; two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, class B felonies; Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree, a class C felony; and three counts of Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree, class A misdemeanors.

Evidence of Voronova’s alleged drug dealing was revealed during an ongoing narcotics investigation by the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Heroin Task Force as well as in a parallel ongoing investigation by the Nassau County Police Department into a recent fatal overdose.

Pursuant to the joint investigation, Voronova was arrested Wednesday during a search warrant executed by the District Attorney’s Heroin Task Force at a hotel room in the Hilton Garden Inn, located at 1575 Round Swamp Road in Melville. The search warrant resulted in the recovery of approximately 430 grams of crystal methamphetamine, nine grams of black tar heroin, LSD tabs, 110 Alprazolam pills, 11 Oxycodone pills, 27 Amphetamine pills, assorted MDMA pills, liquid Gamma-hydroxybutyrate (“GHB”), $592 U.S. currency, and drug paraphernalia consistent with drug sales, including a scale and packaging materials.

A second individual, Mario Amato Mario, 48, of Bellmore, was also arrested during the search warrant. Mario is charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, a class A misdemeanor.

Voronova was arraigned yesterday in Suffolk County First District Court and was released on supervised release. She is being represented by the Legal Aid Society and is due back in court on Jan. 11, 2021.

If convicted of the top count, Voronova faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.

The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Heroin Task Force comprises law enforcement officers from the District Attorney’s Office, Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office, Suffolk County Police Department and Northport Police Department.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Jacob Kubetz, of the Special Narcotics Bureau.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
