Nassau County Vets Get Increased Access to Local Parks

Written by Lon Cohen  |  06. December 2020

Nassau County Executive Laura Curran announced on Wednesday that she signed two bills that will benefit the 50,000 veterans who call the county home.

The first bill ensures that all Nassau County parks and public facilities have two parking spots designated for specifically for veterans.

The second expands the use of the New York State Lifetime Liberty Pass, a leisure pass for disabled Veterans, to all Nassau County parks.

The Lifetime Liberty Pass permits qualified New York State veterans with disabilities discounted use of state parks, historic sites, and recreational facilities operated by the Office Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (State Parks) and the state Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC). Once issued, the Lifetime Liberty Pass will never have to be renewed.
