Lynn Portas Captivates with Keyboard Performance at Count Basie Theatre Honoring Al Lambert
The Count Basie Theatre, a historic landmark in downtown Red Bank, NJ, first opened in 1926 as the Carlton Theater. In 1984, it was renamed to honor jazz legend and Red Bank native William “Count” Basie (1904–1984). With seating for 1,568 and hosting over 180 shows each year, the theatre continues to be a vibrant hub for the performing arts.
It was recently the scene of a special event honoring Albert—better known as Al Lambert. Although there were many performances and tremendous accolades for a true legend, it was Long Island’s own Lynn Portas who also performed and played keyboard for the entire night.
“It was a special event for a true gentleman, Al Lambert, whom I’ve known for many years,” said Portas, tearing up as she reminisced about the years they have shared together, especially how he has given back to charities such as The Tunnel To Towers 911 Fund.
No need to rush to New Jersey or even New York City—Lynn can be heard at the following local venues. Don’t miss the opportunity to experience a multitalented artist who lives and works right here in our own backyard.
