Christmas is less than 3 weeks away and Long Island is complete with holiday festivities to enjoy with the entire family! Check out the tree lighting events, parades and festivals! The weekend is also packed with performances including Shirley Alston Reeves (the original lead singer of the Shirelles) and fifties teen-idol Paul Anka. Check out all the hot spots here!

FRIDAY – DECEMBER 6, 2013

Who: 18th Annual Charles Dickens Festival At Port Jefferson Village
Info: The festival features characters including Scrooge, Father Christmas and Chimney Sweeps. There’s also reindeer viewing and an old fashioned radio show with all the sounds and performers of the era. Also enjoy carriage rides, Santa’s workshop, trolley rides, a candle light house tour of historic homes and the grand finale parade.
Cost: Free Admission

Who: 55th Annual Candlelight House Tour At Three Village Historical Society
Info: The tour features select homes dressed in holiday decorations by a team of local decorators. Enjoy a view of the architectural furnishings and hear about the historical details of homes.

Who: Shirley Alston Reeves (Original Lead Singer of the Shirelles) At The Suffolk Theater
Info: Shirley Alston is a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member with hits like ‘Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow,’ ‘Dedicated to the One I Love,’ ‘Mama Said,’ and many others. Enjoy her perform while dining to a variety of local foods, wines and specialty cocktails.

Who: Long Island Comedy Festival – Holiday Comedy Bash At The Suffolk Theater
Info:  The event is hosted by comedian Paul Anthony. Enjoy an evening of top comedians performing to make you laugh around the holidays. Scheduled to appear includes Scott Schendlinger from the New York City comedy scene, Frankie Pace from SNL and Richie Byrne with Comedy Central.
Cost: $25 For Advance Ticket, $35 At The Door

Who: First Night And Tree Lighting At Old Westbury Gardens
Info: Be among the first to view Westbury House light up in holiday splendor. There will also be live holiday music, a performance by the Bethel Concert Choir, a visit by Santa Claus, and a tree lighting ceremony on the South Terrace. Advance registration is required.
Cost: $10, $5 For Members and Children (3-12)

Who: Paul Anka At NYCB Theatre At Westbury
Info: Fifties teen-idol Paul Anka had hits like ‘Puppy Love’ and ‘Put Your Head on My Shoulder.’ He’s also written big hits for Frank Sinatra. Come by and watch him perform!

Who: Frosty The Snowman Musical At John W. Engeman Theater

Who: Holiday Festival At Stony Brook Village Center
Info: Enjoy live music provided by WALK-FM and holiday carolers. There’s also the petting zoo, a model train display and over 70 decorated trees along the pathways throughout Stony Brook Village Center. Santa will also be visiting on a horse-drawn carriage to listen to children’s wishes.

Who: Medford Chamber’s Annual Christmas Parade
Info: Celebrate the holiday season with this event that’s complete with a breakfast with Santa, parade and then tree lighting at Medford Park. There’s also hot chocolate and cookies courtesy of Medford Fire Department.
