The month of December is complete with holiday entertainment on Long Island! This week, head out to enjoy an animated toy train display at Wrong Island Railroad, holiday tree lighting at Hempstead Town Hall Plaza, classic performances of “The Nutcracker” at various theaters, and the screening of Elf On The Shelf at Dee’s Nursery. There is also other entertainment such as Daughtry and 3 Doors Down’s performance at The Paramount, an evening of jazz with Five Towns College Jazz Orchestra & Swing Band at Dix Hills Performing Arts Center and more. MONDAY – DECEMBER 3, 2012

Who: Animated Toy Train Display At Wrong Island Railroad
Info: Train lovers big and small can have a fantastic time at Wrong Island Railroad with its animated toy train display. It offers a layout featuring eight operating lines and control buttons that everyone can try out. Wrong Island Railroad also offers the largest selection of new Lionel Trains in Suffolk County.

Who: Daughtry and 3 Doors Down Perform At The Paramount
Info: Daughtry, a multi-platinum rock band and 3 Doors Down is touring around the country. Daughtry’s performance will include new single “Start of Something Good” and other favorites like “Home,” “It’s Not Over,” “Feels Like Tonight” and “No Surprise.” 3 Doors Down will be releasing its first ever “Greatest Hits” package, including “Kryptonite,” “It’s Not My Time,” “When I’m Gone,” “Here Without You,” “One Light” and “Goodbyes.”

TUESDAY – DECEMBER 4, 2012

Who: Holiday Lighting At Hempstead Town Hall Plaza
Info: Come out to enjoy the Hempstead Town Hall Christmas tree, Menorah, and Kinara lighting ceremony! There will also be a performance by the Jackson Main Elementary School and Santa will be present. Refreshments are also served and new toy donations will be collected for the Salvation Army Angel Tree.

Who: Five Towns College Jazz Orchestra & Swing Band at Dix Hills Performing Arts Center
Info: Enjoy an evening of jazz with the Five Towns College Jazz Orchestra & Swing Band. Big band music will be performed and there will be mixing of music of great composers, arrangers and bands.

WEDNESDAY – DECEMBER 5, 2012

Who: “The Nutcracker Act II” At Ballet Long Island
Info: It’s a ballet dance performance complete with grace, style, beautiful costumes and scenery as performers grace the Land of Sweets. The candy kingdom will also have characters such as SugarPlum Fairy, the Chinese dance-tea, the Arabian dance-coffee, the Spanish Dance-chocolate and the Waltz of the Flowers.

Who: Live Reindeer and Other Holiday Cheer At Hicks Nurseries
Info: If you home isn’t decked out in holiday lights, stop by Hicks Nurseries to pick up everything you need – including lights, a Christmas tree and more. Santa and a live reindeer is present daily.

THURSDAY – DECEMBER 6, 2012

Who: Ovations Dance Repertory Company’s Production of “The Nutcracker Suite” At Patchogue Theatre For The Performing Arts
Info: The performance has delighted audiences for 13 years. It is complete with talented dancers. The glittery ballet performance is choreographed by Orlando Pena and has a showing of lavish costumes. Each year, new and fresh choreography is brought to the performance.

Who: Elf On The Shelf Movie Night At Dee’s Nursery
