The Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame opens Friday, November 25 in Stony Brook.

Billy Joel, Joan Jett, and the 100+ groundbreaking musical artists who have been inducted into the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame since 2004, will now be recognized at a permanent museum in Stony Brook. The 8,000-square-foot facility at 97 Main Street, which will now house the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame, is having its grand opening on Friday, November 25. The space features an exhibition area, surround sound theater, and an official “Hall of Fame Museum” dedicated to honoring and preserving Long Island’s music and entertainment heritage. 

 

Visitors can view displays of original musical instruments, awards, apparel and memorabilia from artists including Billy Joel, Harry Chapin, KISS, LL Cool J, Joan Jett, Louis Armstrong, Blue Oyster Cult, and many others. 

 

The museum’s debut exhibit,“Long Island’s Legendary Club Scene: 1960’s–1980’s”pays homage to the area’s nightclubs of that era such as My Father’s Place, Hammerheads, Action House/Speaks, the OBI, Mad Hatter, Pips, and Malibu.The second floor 

 

The Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame is a 501(c) (3) organization dedicated to the idea that Long Island’s musical heritage is an important resource to be celebrated and preserved for future generations. The organization also supports an Education Scholarship program for high school students, and a Health and Harmony program, which brings musicians and entertainers to senior centers, hospitals, and other places of need.


The Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame Museum is located at 97 Main Street in Stony Brook. Operating hours are Wednesday – Sunday, 12 - 5 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online: adults: $19.50; seniors (65+): $17; Students with ID: $15; children 12 and under: free. Admission includes free parking, access to the Exhibition Hall, Surround Sound Theater, and Historic Hall of Fame and are valid any time the museum is open.
