A CHRISTMAS CAROL Returns to Oyster Bay on Dec. 3

Written by North Shore theatre group  |  24. November 2011

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE November 24, 2011 A CHRISTMAS CAROL Returns to Oyster Bay at Matinecock Masonic Historical Society on Dec. 3! Oyster Bay, NY -- North Shore Theatre Group is proud to announce a special, ONE-NIGHT ONLY performance by Greg Oliver Bodine in his solo adaptation of "A Christmas Carol" at Matinecock Masonic Historical Society in Oyster Bay this December. This one-act, one hour, solo stage adaptation of "A Christmas Carol" is enacted by Charles Dickens himself, and is based on a condensed version of the novel that he used while on the second of his historic reading tours of the United States. The Story: Through an unexpected turn of events, Charles Dickens' American Reading Tour in 1867 is off to a rough start. However, Mr. Dickens triumphantly proclaims that he will deliver what he has promised to present! By changes of voice, gesture and expression, he peoples the stage with a throng of characters from his classic Christmas tale and recreates, with improvised wit and charm, the familiar journey of Ebenezer Scrooge -- an embittered, lonely, old miser, who (with the help of three spirits!) finds a second chance to become a generous, caring human being. "A most welcome Christmas present... a sincere, moving performance that set the mood for the coming holidays." - Oyster Bay Enterprise-Pilot, Dec. 2003 "[Bodine] switched roles so seamlessly that the audience soon forgot there was one man on stage...he captivated an audience that ran the gamut of ages?children as young as eight were riveted." - Oyster Bay Guardian, Dec. 2005 What sets this fresh adaptation apart is its ability to rely on the power of the text -- shared simply, directly and intimately through great storytelling! Charles Dickens' holiday classic is adapted here to offer a unique theatrical experience. One actor. One hour! Admission for Adults & Children: $10 at the door. Running time is approximately one (1) hour. This show is rated G and is suitable for adults and children over eight (8) years of age.
