Individuals and Business Volunteer Program in New York seeks help for Sandy victims

Written by Chelsea Triola  |  19. November 2012

For Immediate Release: It’s been less than 3 weeks since Hurricane Sandy affected states from Florida to Maine and inflicted its wrath across New Jersey and New York, yet many continue to feel the devastation of the super-storm. Sadly, the news media coverage has been dwindling, even as people are still in desperate need of help.

Virtual Volunteers for Sandy Victims Program is a new initiative launched by Lilly Services inNew York, to help Sandy victims with Free and 50% off personal assistance services. “We at Lilly Services also looked on like the rest of Americans, and decided we want to find a way to help the thousands of people who still need us,” said Luis Sevilla, co-owner of Lilly Services.

Sevilla started this to take action and offer help in the form of virtual research and personal assistant services, which can be performed online, or over the phone. “One of our goals/mission with this campaign is to match disaster victims needs with business owners and service providers willing to provide their products or services for FREE or discounted at half price,” Luis explained.

It’s a major undertaking for a small company and this is why Sevilla and partner Moxey are asking for help via Indiegogo.com, a crowdfunding website. On this site, people and businesses with a product, service, or a need for help can post their campaigns to indiegogo.com to raise funds; those led to help can do so on the funding platform. Donations range from $1 to as high as thousands of dollars, depending on the contributor.

“We need to raise some funds to spread the word and make our company visible to the masses. And we also want more organizations to join us!” continued Sevilla. “People and families are already appealing to us for help. Just this week, a single mom with 4 children reached out to us for help and we are coordinating FREE meals in Staten Island and Far Rockaway for Thanksgiving. We just want to do our part, and to find other organizations and volunteers who will chip in as well,” Sevilla said.

Sevilla and Moxey have their company information and this campaign on the following social media sites for additional information:

• Facebook: Free or 50% off Products and Services for Hurricane Sandy Victims

• Twitter: www.twitter.com/lillyservices1

• Website: www.LillyServices.com

“We can’t do this alone. We need the help of other volunteer organizations, virtual personal
assistants, and a ground team to reach out to the Sandy victims. And we are appealing to the broader community to visit our campaign site and contribute,” said Sevilla.
