Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating after a 3-year-old boy ran into the side of a moving motor vehicle yesterday afternoon in Brentwood.

Tatiana Correa parked her car on Douglass Street, between Orient Avenue and Winfield Avenue, and took her 3-year-old son Samuel Garcia out of the vehicle at approximately 5 p.m. Garcia ran across the street, stopped, and came back running into the side of an eastbound 2015 Land Rover Discovery.

Garcia, of Mastic, was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip before being transferred to Stony Brook University Hospital for observation and evaluation of possible injuries. The driver of the Land Rover, Kelly Benavides, 50, of Brentwood, was not injured. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the incident to contact the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.
