Four new Halal restaurants to try

If you’re a fan of Halal food then try these new shops that opened recently. Many have roots in the New York City pushcart business and are family owned with deep experience in the food industry.

 

Naz's Halal Food - With locations already in Deer Park, Levittown and Brentwood, this former food truck in Queens established a new location in Shirley this fall. According to their own website, Naz's Halal Food was founded by cousins Naz and Kareem whose family was already heavily involved in the restaurant business. They decided to use family recipes to open a food truck as a "side business." Today, they have turned that food truck into four restaurants. Zora's Halal Grill - A family-owned take out restaurant serving middle eastern halal food opened in September 2019. They claim they are the first halal location in Rockville Centre. The family started out with pushcarts in New York City and extended their food business to Long Island. Location: 91 N Park Avenue, Rockville Centre, (516) 992-0088.

 

The Halal Guys - Franchise that began in the 1990s as a New York City hot dog cart they now have locations all over the world serving Americal Halal food. Location: 2565 Hempstead Turnpike, East Meadow, (516) 605-1667.

 

Kandahar Kabab - Serving up authentic halal Afghan cuisine. Location: 459 A South Broadway, Hicksville, (516) 595-7886.
