Shop Small This Holiday Season: Small Business Saturday 2013
As the holiday season is rapidly approaching, choosing where to buy your holiday presents can be difficult. Maybe some of you did layaway or ordered online, but it is not the same as being in the store. With the recent controversy over major stores opening on Thanksgiving, many Long Islanders are reconsidering their shopping choices.
With so many department store, we tend to forget the same businesses that are on Long Island. These business promote the local economy and introduces people to shopping locally.
Developed in 2010, Small Business Saturday takes place the day after Black Friday. In 2011, the U.S. Senate officially recognized the day and many more people a participated and raised more money for small businesses.
American Express has teamed up with local business to support Small Business Saturday this November 30th. Their sites provides consumers with the locations for all the small business participating that Saturday.
