Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in Ronkonkoma last night.
Jim Jones was attempting to cross Veterans Memorial Highway in the crosswalk at Fifth Avenue, when he was struck by a 2013 Honda Civic in the right lane of westbound Veterans Memorial Highway at 7:11 p.m.
Jones, 55, of Fall River, Massachusetts, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Honda, Erin Archibald, 64, of Smithtown, was not injured.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information on this crash is asked to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
