Some NYS Parks Remain Closed Due to Extensive Damage Caused by Sandy

November 12th, 2012 (Long Island, NY) - The following Long Island parks are closed until further notice due to health and safety issues from Hurricane Sandy, including dangerous storm debris, downed trees and power lines, and loss of utilities:

Golfing at Bethpage State Park is limited due to tree damage. Call ahead for information.

The following facilities in the Hudson Valley and New York City are closed until further notice: 

  • The athletic field and track at Riverbank, West Harlem
  • Nyack Beach, Upper Nyack
  • Stony Point Battlefield Historic Site, Stony Point 

Visitors should also expect that services may be limited and roadways/trails impassable, bathrooms closed or certain areas off-limits due to cleanup and remaining dangerous conditions at all State Parks in regions affected by Hurricane Sandy.
