Pet owners can bring their dogs, cats, bunnies, ferrets, reptiles and rodents. All pets must be on a leash or in a carrier, and portraits with larger animals require advance arrangement. Pet treats are complimentary. Portraits are $10 for a 4x6 print in a holiday frame and make a wonderful Christmas card. Sittings will be at Agway, 295 Rte. 25A, Mt. Sinai on Dec. 3 & 4 from 10AM to 3PM and at Country Critters, 152 Rte. 112, Patchogue on Dec. 10 from 11AM to 5PM and Dec. 11 from 12PM to 3PM. According to a STAR volunteer, "Santa has a way of bringing out the best in the animals. Some of them come all dressed up to have their picture taken with him. They just love him!" STAR has been hosting Pet Photos With Santa for at least 9 years, with volunteer St. Nicholas, his photographer, and the merry elves doing a wonderful job relaxing all of the animals before their photo shoots. STAR Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) volunteer organization. For the past 18 years, STAR has provided a safe haven for injured and orphaned wildlife and domestic animals on Long Island and has returned as many healthy animals as possible to their natural habitat. Animal shelters, veterinarians, and humane agencies refer to STAR for wildlife situations they do not handle. In addition, STAR offers advice to the public on how to manage nuisance or injured wildlife.
