Adorable Adoptables: Meet Pretty, Gleason & Ford!

Written by Allison Matos  |  30. October 2015

LI's Adorable Adoptables is a weekly column by Allison Matos, a lifelong Long Island resident who has been advocating animal adoption since 2012. Allison's weekly posts highlight local animals in need of adoption, and cover general animal welfare topics as well.

Meet Pretty. This little girl with a huge heart and big ole ears to match arrived at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter as a stray.  Pretty is a very sweet dog who longs for her forever home.  At the shelter, she loves getting attention from people, and loves to play with anyone who makes time for her.  Pretty would likely do best in a home with older kids, as her love for playing can get her very excited.  Pretty displayed no issues with people near her food, and she even knows some basic commands including "sit" and "down". She would probably prefer to be the only dog in the home, but can be social with other dogs after correct introductions.   Pretty is practically a puppy at 2 1/2 years old, so now’s the time to scoop her up and make her a part of your family. For more information about adopting Pretty, contact the TOH Animal shelter today!

Who is that very handsome gray cat pictured above? Why that’s Gleason!  This little guy had a home of his own once upon a time, but then his owner was evicted with no place to go.  Last Hope Animal Rescue has medically treated and cared for Gleason, and now they are pleased to announce he is ready for adoption. Gleason was born in 2011 and is described as extremely loving and sweet. All Gleason wants is a person to call his own and a forever home, so he will never be homeless again! Do you have room in your heart and home for this lovable guy??  For more information check out Gleason’s webpage.

Check out Ford! This ridiculously cute blue brindle Pit mix came to Last Hope Animal Rescue from their neighbors, the TOH shelter. Why? Because Ford stood out from all the other dogs due to his happy, waggy, yet quiet disposition.  Ford is a very special pooch that loves people and enjoys being around other dogs.  Ford would make an amazing family pet, so head down to Last Hope today and scoop him up before someone else does!

Thanks for reading and please remember to always adopt-never shop! Pass it on :)
