Nassau County Executive Laura Curran announced today that Nassau Barkfest, the County’s annual canine costume contest, is going virtual this year, with online photo submissions beginning today on www.nassaucountyny.gov/barkfest. Submissions will be accepted starting now to October 30th – whether they’re pretty, silly, scary or downright ghostly. New this year, the County Executive is inviting residents to pick the winners. Beginning on October 31st, photos of each contestant will be posted on www.nassaucountyny.gov/Barkfest. Voting will take place from October 31st to November 5th simply by clicking on your favorite contestant.
“Nassau Barkfest has become an annual Halloween tradition for dog owners across Long Island,” said Nassau County Executive Laura Curran. “I am thrilled to be able to transform this beloved event to ensure the show could go on this year in a safe and engaging new way. Encouraging all to help us choose the winner and cast their vote beginning on Halloween. Thank you to the Nassau SPCA for its sponsorship.”
The free event is sponsored by the Nassau County SPCA. Prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners’ courtesy of the Nassau SPCA.
1st Place will receive a $150 American Express Gift Card,
2nd Place will receive a $75 American Express Gift Card,
and 3rd Place will receive a $50 American Express Gift Card.
