Saturday's Top 10: Spooktacular Events this Weekend

It is hard to believe that it is the end of October.  Now that you picked your pumpkin, bought your costume and candy, it  is time for some real fun! In addition to the corn mazes, haunted houses and haunted places.  This is the final weekend of spooktacular events before Halloween on Wednesday.  There are countless ways for people of all ages to get ready to celebrate.   There is everything from pumpkin catapulting, to trying to break a world record for number of people dancing to "Thriller"  and Ghostly Gala.  There are events for both children and canines in costume.

  • Pumpkin Park at Adventureland

    Enjoy safe trick or treating with you goblins and ghouls on Sweet Street! 
  • Pumpkin Fling

    Annual championship pumpkin catapult contest and a unique opportunity to experience the joys and trials of designing, building and operating sophisticated mechanical devices.   
  • Thrill The World at Islip

    This event will try and break the record for the largest world-wide simultaneous "Thriller" dance! It is done as a tribute to Michael Jackson and for charity. 
  • Halloween Family Fun Day at The Long Island Museum 
    1200 Route 25A, Stony Brook (631) 751-0066  
    Come in costume and enjoy trick-or-treating, pumpkin painting, storytelling and crafts. Special interactive musical performance by Sol y Sombra. Admission is free all day.
  • Glamour and Gore II Horror Prom 
    631 Pulaski Road, Huntington 
    A night of fright and freakish fun with full open bar, food, dancing, raffles and best costume contest! 
  • Howl-ween 
    Cold Spring Harbor Park, Cold Spring Harbor  
    “6th Annual Howl-ween: Corky’s Canine Costume Parade Celebration and Paws for a Cause Event.” This event features an exciting street sale, a luxury, classic car show in the park, live music and the most elaborate parade of canines in costumes.
  • Haunted Coliseum 
    1255 Hempstead Turnpike, Uniondale (516) 794-9300  A
    huge DJ line-up is on the way and promises to make the inaugural haunted coliseum a once-in-a-lifetime experience. You can expect the best and biggest sound system ever to touchdown on Long Island, huge video and lighting installations, and amazing tricks and treats for every beautiful or beastly ghost and goblin in attendance around every creepy corner.
  • Castle Costume Party

    Kids, come dressed in your best costume & enjoy a spooky cupcake decorating experience plus some fun Halloween crafts & games! 
  • Halloween Vines and Canines

    Dress up your dog and enjoy an educational walk through Martha Clara Vineyard! A donation of a non-perishable dog or cat food item, as well as lightly used pet supplies will be accepted.
  • Ghostly Gala at LICM

    Celebrate the 11th Annual Ghostly Gala.  Costume party for kids and adults, cool and creepy crafts, Trick-or Treating and a Live Bat Show.
