Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that injured four people, two of them seriously, in Great River last night.
Kevin Guzman was driving a 2001 Toyota Camry on Westbound Sunrise Highway with four
passengers, when he lost control of the vehicle, which crashed into the median concrete guardrail and then crossed over all the lanes of traffic, left the roadway, struck a tree and overturned near West Club Road, at 9:50 p.m.
Guzman, 19, of East Patchogue, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The right front passenger, Jeanaro Morgan, 19, of West Babylon, was transported to NYU Langone Hospital - Suffolk in Patchogue for evaluation.
The back driver’s side passenger, Carlos Encalada, 18, Brentwood, was airlifted via police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The back middle passenger, Bruce Vargas, 20, of Bay Shore, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious injuries. The man in the back passenger side, Angelo Lopez, 18, of Brentwood, was transported to NYU Langone Hospital - Suffolk in Patchogue for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The Toyota was impounded. A 2008 Ford Focus, which was following the vehicle and was being driven by a woman known to the occupants of the Toyota, was also impounded. Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.
