GARDEN CITY, NY (Oct. 21, 2011) -- 16 Handles, a franchised frozen yogurt chain, has leased space for its third Long Island store in Plainview, Long Island, in a deal arranged by the region's newest retail brokerage, Sabre Real Estate LLC. The store, 1,125 square feet, is scheduled to open in December and is owned by Bruce and Susan Cohen and Scott Silverman. Baskin-Robbins previously occupied the space in the Morton Village Plaza, 1054 Old Country Rd. Customers of 16 Handles serve themselves yogurt and toppings and pay by the weight. 16 Handles will join such other tenants as ShopRite, CVS, Chase Bank, Play N Trade, The UPS Store, Sleepy's, and Marty's Shoes in the shopping center. "Morton Village Plaza in upscale Plainview is a perfect location for 16 Handles," said Amanda Gordon, a senior associate at Sabre, who, arranged the lease directly with the landlord, New York City-based Philips International. "It is easily accessible and is located in the heart of a community with a median household income of more than $106,000." 16 Handles, which opened its first Long Island store in Jericho in September, also is opening a store in Port Washington. Entrepreneur Solomon Choi opened the chain's first 16 Handles shop in 2008 in Manhattan's East Village. It now has 16 units in the Tri-State area.
