ART(that matters) Presents: "Beyond Broken"

Written by Long Island  |  17. October 2011

ART (that matters) is pleased to announce a new exhibition entitled "Beyond Broken". Beyond Broken is the life's work of artist Vasso Tarnaras depicted in three distinctive parts. The exhibition will be open for 2 nights only on Thursday October 27, 2011 from 7-9 PM and Thursday November 3, 2011 from 7-9 PM.
Vasso was an inspired young artist drawing skilled portraits of her then idols Jimmy Hendrix and Axel Rose. In March 1992 at the age of 17, Vasso was viciously attacked by her boyfriend suffering a crushed windpipe resulting ultimately in brain damage. Now, in her thirties, the artist has been diagnosed with MS, creating additional challenges in life as in art. Works from these three distinct periods in the artist's life as well as personal and intimate journal entries, will be on display.
Vasso's work is full of hope, anger, passion and critical insight. Art has been a way for the artist to express herself and work through the utmost of challenges. The artist hopes her art and her life will teach others the valuable lessons she has learned.
Don't expect to see self pity in this work, rather insightful lessons filled with love and strength as well as the overpowering feelings of loss in all of it's forms.
ART(that matters) is located at 55 W. Main Street, Oyster Bay, NY 11771
