Tuesday's Top 10: Family-Friendly Haunted Houses

Written by Debbi Spiegel  |  16. October 2012

Halloween is here. It’s time to break out the pumpkins and fake spiders. While decorating your house in webs and skeletons, ask yourself a question. Where are you going to take your children to get their spooky fill? If you have young kids, you will want to avoid places that are too gruesome because it would still be nice for them to get some sleep at the end of the night.

Local haunted houses or haunted hayrides can prove to be a harrowing, truly frightening experience, even for the most hardened of scare hounds. Whether it’s learned horror actors plying their scary trade upon unsuspecting visitors/victims, or simply the shock of some truly gruesome Halloween make-up, going to a haunted house isn’t always a family friendly affair. Luckily for those with small children, Long Island offers its fair share of kid-friendly haunted houses, full of scares which, although fairly spooky, prove accommodating for both parents and children alike.
