Suffolk County Police today arrested a man for shooting another man in Shirley early this morning.
 
A man walked up to the driver’s side window of a 2021 BMW parked in the driveway of a residence on Seymour Drive and shot a man sitting in the driver’s seat in the leg at approximately 1:35 a.m. A woman sitting in the front passenger seat was not injured.
 
The man fled in a gray vehicle.
 
After an investigation, Seventh Squad detectives arrested Edward Perry on Hoffman Avenue, in Bellport, at approximately 3 p.m. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
 
The BMW was impounded.
 
Perry, 40, of Poospatuck Lane, Mastic, was charged with Assault 1st Degree. He will be held overnight at the Seventh Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on October 10.
