Hot Spots: Weekend Watch for October 12 through October 14

Looking for entertainment on Long Island this Friday and during the weekend? Don’t miss out on Oktoberfest at Plattduetsche Park Restaurant. There’s also the Long Island Auto Show taking place at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, the Long Island Women’s Expo at Suffolk Community College Expo Center and much more! For some music and theater entertainment, head out to Mulcahy’s Pub for performances by the Big Shots who will be playing all of Billy Joel’s greatest hits on Friday and Theatre Three for a musical adaptation of Beauty and the Beast on Sunday. More locations on Long Island are also available for Halloween themed entertainment, including the Bayville Haunted Fire House and BayWay Arts Center with Halloween at the Addams’ House. FRIDAY – OCTOBER 12, 2012

Who: Plattduetsche Oktoberfest With Live Music By Breindenbach
Info: Oktoberfest is celebrated in Germany, but Plattduetsche Park Restaurant has created an Oktobfest of its own. It’s offering an indoor traditional Oktoberfest celebration complete with a large buffet with German specialties, including wursts, sauerbraten, roast loin of pork, leberkase, frankfurters, sauerkraut, red cabbage, homemade German potato salad, cabbage salad and more. Dine with live music by Breidenbach and enjoy unlimited imported beer, wine and soda.

Who: Long Island Auto Show At Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum
Info: This three-day auto show features more than 200 of the latest vehicle models. Get up close and personal with 2013-model cars, crossovers, trucks, alternative fuel vehicles and more. There also opportunities to get behind the wheel of high-end exotic sports cars. The even continues through Sunday, October 14.
Cost: Free Admission

Who: Bill Joel Tribute Band, Big Shot, At Mulcahy’s Pub
Info: It’ll be a night of music playing to all of Billy Joel’s greatest hits, performed by Big Shot. The music and stage presence is recreated to be a close replica to Bill Joel’s actual performances. Several of Billy Joel’s band members will also be on stage. This performance is approved and endorsed by Billy Joel.

SATURDAY – OCTOBER 13, 2012

Who: Bayville Haunted Fire House
Info: Come out to enjoy a night of spooky adventure created by the Bayville Fire Company. It has been haunting visitors each year for over 20 years. Experience the thrill, terror and the site of blood thirsty firefighters.

Who: Reception At Artisan Direct Art Space - Port Jefferson
Info: It’s the opening day for Artisan Direct Art Space – Port Jefferson. There will be an evening cocktail reception. The art space features artists Harold Naideau, Tony Stomberg, Alexander Khomsky, Sal Asaro, Christina Ferrari, Cheryl Hrudka and Michael Bond. Enjoy a variety of paintings, photos and more.

Who: Halloween At The Addams’ House At BayWay Arts Center
Info: Get a taste of Halloween with a theater performance of Halloween at the Addams’ House at BayWay Arts Center. Enjoy a performance of a creepy, spooky family and their humourous manners. It’s a performance all ages will enjoy. Following the show, there’s tea, juice, cake and tea sandwiches with members of the cast. Advance reservation is required.

Who: Beauty And The Beast Performance At Theatre Three
Info: It’s a classic tale complete with romance, humor and more played through a musical adaptation. A merchant’s daughter, Anna, is wooed by the inner beauty of a beast.

Who: Party in Pink Zumbathon At Personal Training Institute
Info: Take part in this charity event that supports breast cancer awareness. You’ll be enjoying a revolutionary new fitness concept called the Zumba® Fitness-Party. It offers dance-fitness and focuses on having your body move to the music.

Who: 2012 Long Island Women’s Expo at Suffolk Community College Expo Center
Info: This is for all the ladies out there! This women’s lifestyle event featuring everything from fashion, food, fitness, cosmetics, wellness, travel, family, home, health and other related products and services. There will also be free hair and cosmetic makeovers, free gift bags for the first 250 women, giveaways for getaways, shopping sprees and more and vendor booths set up throughout. A portion of proceeds from this event goes to The Baldwin Fund.
