Help Hit a Home Run for Autism Research at Long Island's Ducks Stadium!

Written by Long Island  |  07. October 2011

What’s more American than apple pie? Softball of course.  With the fall weather just beginning to give us a chill, it’s a great chance to bundle up, grab a thermos full of hot cocoa and head down to one of the many tournaments Long Island has to offer. This weekend is a great chance to take the family out for a fun filled day while helping a good cause.

Island Slow Pitch will be hosting its annual World Series this Saturday, October 8th, at Ducks Stadium in Central Islip.  Ticket prices are $10 per person, and all proceeds from the event will benefit the Nassau Suffolk Chapter of The Autism Society of America.  Quacker Jack will be there for pictures as well as raffles, t-shirts, and face painting.  There are three games beginning at 8:00am and the festivities will last until approximately 2:00pm.  These games will showcase the best of what Long Island adult softball has to offer.  There is a co-ed division as well as a lower division men’s game and an upper division men’s game.  This event brings the community together for a great cause and is always a blast for everyone!

Island Slow Pitch holds various events throughout the year to benefit this worthy cause, and their events are always sure to be fun for the whole family.  Check out their website, www.islandslowpitch.com for other tournaments, including the October 15th men’s tournament, which will be held at the Town of Brookhaven Fields.  In the past, Island Slow Pitch has raised $10,000 to build a playground at the Masera Learning Center and donated thousands of dollars to other Autism charities and research.

Take advantage of the beautiful weather the meteorologists are promising and spend a fun filled day with family or friends at Ducks Stadium.  It’s a weekend activity you can truly feel good about participating in…and besides it’s the best softball you’ll witness until next season!
