Saturday's Top 10: Columbus Day Weekend Happenings

Written by Debbi Spiegel  |  06. October 2012

In 1492, Christopher Columbus sailed the ocean blue on the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria.  The holiday commemorates his landing in the New World.  That was a very long time ago.  Fast forward to 2012 and the day is evolved into a celebration of sales rather than sails, parades and a way to extend a fantastic fall weekend.

There are many great fall festivals happening on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Time to pick pumpkins, get lost in a corn maze, bounce around a field on a hayride, feast on apples & roasted corn, drink cider, jump on bouncers, ride a few carnival rides, and stock up on handmade crafts - just to name a few of the fun activities happening at these seasonal celebrations!
