On Saturday evening, October 22nd, the 2011 Spirits Tour will explore the motivations and deeds of men and women who contributed to the rebel cause in Revolutionary War Setauket. The theme for this year's tour is: Sung and Unsung Patriots: The Private Lives of Public People. Our "Spirits" were members of the Culper Spy Ring, their family, and associates. Local history has recognized the public roles of these individuals, but the 2011 Spirits Tour will expose the personal connections, motivations, and deeds that contributed to these public roles. Sung and unsung patriots, these individuals risked their lives to assure the victory for the Rebel cause. Sixteen costumed characters will relate their individual stories of the life and times of Revolutionary War Setauket while considering the spectrum political opinion during and following the Revolutionary War and the issue of slavery in the post-Revolutionary War era.

Guests will tour the historic cemeteries of the Setauket Presbyterian and Caroline Churches. Here, they will meet the "Spirits" of our sung and unsung patriots. Each tour lasts 1.5-2 hours. Tours depart from the Caroline Church Community Building on Caroline Ave, Setauket, NY. The Young Historian's Tour, geared towards school-aged children, will start during daytime hours (tours depart at 4:45pm, 5:00pm, and 5:15pm). Evening tours begin at 5:30pm and depart every 15 minutes. The last tour of the evening begins at 8:00pm.
