Wednesday's Top 10: Weekend Fall Festival Season has Started!

With Summer unofficially over and the kids back in school. It is the launch of the Fall Festival season.

It’s Fall Festival time! Time to paint pumpkins, bounce around a field on a hayride, feast on apples & roasted corn, drink cider, jump on bouncers, ride a few carnival rides, and stock up on handmade crafts - just to name a few of the fun activities happening at these seasonal celebrations! All across Long Island, communities are celebrating the abundant harvest from farms and the sea with family friendly gatherings packed with tons of past-times and tradition. You can easily find a harvest festival every Saturday and Sunday from now until Halloween - just this weekend, there are almost a dozen exciting Fall Festivals happening. Round up your friends and family, and hit the road - you won't have to travel too far to enjoy this season's fresh crop of celebrations!

  • Hallockville Fall Festival
    6038 Sound Avenue, Riverhead in the Hallockville Museum Farm

    32nd Annual Hallockville Fall Festival and Craft Show. This North Fork tradition features artisan vendors, food, music, children's games, animals, and demonstrations of traditional crafts. 10 AM to 5 PM. Saturday and Sunday

     
  • Fall Harvest and Seafood Festival  
    Captree State Park, West Islip (631) 669-1000  
    This family oriented nautical theme festival provides entertainment, interactive pirate show and scavenger hunt, local farm products, boat rides, crab races, pony rides, and much more. 10 AM to 5 PM.  Saturday and Sunday

     
  • Cow Harbor Day
    Northport Village Park.  
    The traditional annual festival celebrating the history of the Village of Northport. The name comes from ”The Great Cow Harbor”, what the Village was called years ago as the cows use to graze on the fields along the Harbor which are now parks. The day begins with the traditional parade down Main Street at noon. The parade features the music of local bands, floats, sport teams, high school marching bands, antique cars, and the Northport Trolley. Immediately following the parade, Main Street is closed to traffic for amusement rides, live music, vendors, boating contests and barbecue-style food.Sunday, 11 am-5 pm

     
  • Family Festival
    Tanner Park, Copaigue  (631) 367-8599
    This 5th Annual Long Island Family Festival will include live musical entertainment, a carnival, Pet Expo and dog-themed event, vendors, a skate board demonstration, pizza pie eating contest, fashion and talent shows and more. Friday, 6-10 pm; Saturday, noon-10 pm; Sunday,  11 am-8 pm

     
  • Heritage Country Fair
    211 Middle Country Rd., Smithtown  (631) 265-6768
    Smithtown Historical Society’s Frank Brush Barn Island Long Riders Cowboy Mountes shooting demonstration,  crafts, vendors, Civil War encampment, old-fashioned baseball, farm animals & live music.  Sunday, 10 am-5 pm

     
  • Long Island Music Lovers Faire  
    66 Veterans Blvd., Massapequa (516) American Legion Hall.  
    This is Long Island’s largest Music Collectible Shows with vendors from all over the tri-state area and beyond selling records, 45's, 12″, CD’s, DVDs, posters, books, magazines, memorabilia and more!  Sunday, 10 am-3 pm

     
  • Arts in the Plaza 
    1 Chester Street, Long Beach (516) 507-8383 Arts In The Plaza Is Your Inspiring Arts And Music Marketplace. Enjoy live music while shopping for handcrafted, original arts and crafts. Saturday, 10am-4pm 

     
  • Bayville Waterside Festival
    Ransom Beach, Bayville Avenue, Bayville (516) 628-1618
    This is the 8th Annual Festival,  featuring a full size midway carnival, live music, and an arts and crafts fair. It overlooks the beautiful Long island Sound.  Saturday and Sunday, 10 am-5 pm

     
  • East End Greenfest
    Strawberry Fields Fairgrounds, Rte. 48 & Cox Road, Mattituck

    This outdoor celebration of green living features a Green Carnival with biodiesel powered rides, green vendors, and live musical entertainment on a solar powered stage. Friday, 5 pm– 9 pm; Saturday, 11 am – 9 pm Sunday and Monday 11 am – 5 pm

     
  • Harbes Family Farm Apple Festival  
    715 Sound Avenue, Mattituck (631) 298-0800  
    Harbes starts off its Fall Festivals with an apple–themed weekend of fun at its Mattituck farm. There will be tons of apples as well as their usual Fall weekend offerings which include a big children’s area called “Barnyard Adventure” with pedal carts, pig races, pony rides, hayrides, rubber duck races, a petting zoo and live bee observatory.  Saturday and Sunday 9 am-6 pm
