You Can Be A Blessing

Written by yoga-meditation  |  23. September 2005

In the midst of our sometimes sorrowful world, great things are happening at Inner Light Yoga. In response to Hurricane Katrina, we collected various items to give to my friend Jackie Summel's organization called commongroundrelief.org. She and her group are in New Orleans, helping displaced people. They brought clothes and sundries and some reading materials. They are feeding stray animals, too. Additionally, we are in the process of organizing a Yoga-Thon that will take place on Saturday, October 1st at the Common Grounds in Sayville. Monies raised will go to the Salvation Army. Our Yoga-thon promises to be a fun day, filled with music and even a Chinese Auction where you will have the opportunity to bid on gifts donated from local businesses. If you ever had an inkling to see what yoga is all about, then make sure to stop by to see some of my students in action. It's for a great cause. Speaking of causes, we are proud to announce that our 2006 Yoga Calendar has made its debut. This calendar features students aging from 50 to 73, photographed in their best postures. As attested by these beautiful women, yoga is not only for the young, rich and famous. Yoga keeps us young and emotionally rich. What's the best part of the calendar? All proceeds from this $14.00 calendar will be donated to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. For the past two years, I have taught yoga to people afflicted with this disease. My mentor and friend Patricia D'Angelo and I decided to make a difference and help in the fund raising efforts to find a cure for MS. If you are interested in purchasing a calendar, please call me at 631-563-0007. One last thing...Swami Bua, a 115-year-old yogi, will be coming back to Inner Light to teach a class. He is recognized as a saint in India, and his presence is always a blessing. You can be a blessing, too. Please consider purchasing one of our calendars (shot by my award-winning photographer husband, Alex Benvenuto of Roma Photography in Sayville) or come down on October 1st and support our Yoga-thon. Namaste.
