Fair Harbor, Fire Island

Written by fireisland  |  23. September 2001

Fair Harbor is a friendly community with many young and middle aged parents and mature groups plus a lot of people in between. The Ocean Beaches are wide and glorious; the Bayside provides space for boating, be it sailing, windsurfing, jet-skiing. And yes, Fair Harbor still has the sixish, where revelers informally get-together on the dock to cheer the spectacular sunset over the Bay. In my opinion, better than Key West. Fair Harbor has a supermarket, liquor store, hardware store with clothing, restaurant. Residents here take pride in their paradise and are considerate and responsible. There are no paved roads leading to Fair Harbor, and during the summer season, no motor vehicles are permitted beyond the Robert Moses State Park parking lot. This secludedness adds to the special ambiance and flair beckoning you to explore the miles and miles of beaches and natural beauty of this special Island.
