Where to Go Apple Picking on Long Island

Apple season is in full swing. Take the kids and head out to these Long Island farms that offer u-pick apples. Whether you bring home a bag of apples or a bushel, you’re sure to have a fun-filled day.

Call the farms or visit their websites to confirm u-pick hours which can change due to weather and availability. 

Hank’s Pumpkintown

There’s a wide variety of apples available for picking at Hank's Pumpkintown. U-pick is open Saturdays, Sundays, and school holidays from 9:30 a.m. - 5:45 p.m. The farm also offers wagon rides, a maze park, and other family-friendly attractions, plus fall-favorite sweets and snacks like apple cider donuts and candy apples. 

$30 to pick a one peck bag (approximately 10 lbs of apples.) Maximum four people per bag. No charge for children under 3 years old.

Harbes Orchard 

5698 Sound Ave, Riverhead

Plan a day of family fun at the 78-acre Harbes Orchard. Take a ride on the Apple Express tractor to the scenic orchard which features 27 different apple varieties and a trellis growing system that makes the apples easy to pick. Round out your visit with a stroll through all-new Robin Hood Trivia Corn Maze or simply enjoy a yummy treat while listening to live music. Entry to the farm requires Orchard Admission. Prices range from $17 - $28 depending on day and time and include an apple picking bag.

U-pick is open on Mondays and Fridays, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., and weekends and holidays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Parking gets filled quickly so visitors are encouraged to arrive early. Visit the website for updates, activity, and detailed pricing information.

Lewin Farms

Lewin Farms was Long Island’s first u-pick farm and draws visitors throughout the year for its many crops. This time of year, its u-pick apple orchards are the main attraction. The orchards are located on Fresh Pond Avenue in Calverton/Baiting Hollow and are generally open from 9 a.m. – 4 :30 p.m. on weekends and holidays.

Milk Pail

The Milk Pail U-Pick Orchard is a beautiful place to bring the family. Little ones will love how easy it is to pick fruit off the dwarf apple trees. There are several apple varieties to choose from. For an extra adventure, take a farm wagon tour which is both fun and educational. And be sure to stop by The Milk Pail Fresh Market for fruits, vegetables and flowers that have been grown on-site or on the family farm down the road.

U-pick is open Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. during September and October. Admission to the u-pick area for up to six people is free with the purchase of our half bushel bag which holds about 20 lbs. of apples - $51.45 credit card - $49.00 cash.

Windy Acres Farm

Stock up on all the apples you need for your apple pies, apple crisp and other apple recipes at Windy Acres Farm. The family-run Windy Acres Farm has u-pick on weekends from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and the following crops are currently available: Sansa, Gala, Ruby Macintosh, Crimson Gold, and others. Varieties subject to change. $10 per person for a 1/4 peck bag. $30 a peck box three people can pick into it.

You can also pick tomatoes, eggplants, potatoes, and zucchini. Have some post-apple picking fun at the corn maze.
