“When We Dance the Music Dies,” a new movie produced by a Long Island resident with stars such as Eric Roberts and William Ragsdale, has wrapped and is ready for release.

Mark Mattson, a New Hyde Park resident, served as executive producer on this project that recently finished post-production. Screenings are in the works for Long Island and New York City.

“When We Dance the Music Dies” is a psychological thriller that co-stars “Fright Night” star William Ragsdale and was written and directed by Anthony de Lioncourt.

Ragsdale appears along with Eric Roberts, who won Golden Globe awards for “King of the Gypsies,” “Star 80” and “Runaway Train," for which he also was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.

Catherine Mary Stewart, who appeared in 1980s movies “The Last Starfighter” and “Night of the Comet,” is also featured in the film.

“When We Dance the Music Dies” tells the story of the frantic search of a father played by Ragsdale for his college-age daughter, portrayed by Theresa Moriarty.

The movie is inspired by the true story surrounding the disappearance and death of Elisa Lam.

Detectives found surveillance video of Ms. Lam pressing every button in the elevator of a Los Angeles hotel. She was eventually found in the water tower of the hotel.

Lioncourt said the movie seeks to mix "supernatural aspects as well as a strong dramatic tension.”

The investigation by the woman’s father in the movie leads him to a cult leader, Clayton Riggs, portrayed by Eric Roberts, who persuades cult members of his group that they originated from “another dimension,” and that – through their leader – they could return there.

“When We Dance the Music Dies” is the third film Lioncourt has directed in partnership with Mattson.
