(Nassau County, New York)-Stand up against breast cancer simply by sitting down-in a specially Designated "TLPA Pink Ride to benefit the American Cancer Society" vehicle operated by Dawson Taxi. For the entire month of October, Dawson Taxi has painted two of its vehicles in a pink color, and will contribute $100 each week per designated "pink" vehicle to the American Cancer Society: Making Strides Against Breast Cancer program to help raise awareness and funds to fight breast cancer. There is no additional cost to passengers, and drivers are not allowed to accept donations. However, New this year passengers can make a $10 donation directly to the American Cancer Society. The passenger will simply text PINK to 41518, to have a donation of $10.00 added to the passenger's next cell phone bill, or passengers may also make secure, online donations with a credit card at a special web site created by the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org/PinkRide. The effort is part of the second annual international TLPA Pink Ride to benefit the American Cancer Society Spearheaded by the Taxicab, Limousine & Paratransit Association (TLPA) a global association of for-hire vehicle fleet owners representing more than 1,100 companies. "Every time a passenger rides in our pink vehicle, from October 1 through October 31, they'll know they are riding in a vehicle that is helping to raise funds and awareness in the fight against breast cancer," company Spokesperson Jason Verity says: "Every one of us has a story about someone we know with breast cancer," Verity says. "I hope that people see these vehicles and are spurred on to do something on their own, whether that be doing their own fundraiser, helping out a friend with breast cancer, or maybe even just making sure they or a loved one get themselves screened. Last the public response was incredible we had many requests daily from our customers to drive in Our PINK Ride vehicle we had to put a second Pink ride vehicle on the road. "Hundreds of taxicabs, limousines and paratransit vehicles around the world will participate in TLPA Pink Ride to benefit the American Cancer Society initiated by TLPA, the world's largest and oldest professional association of for-hire vehicle fleet operators.
