"WaterWorld" exhibit Today thru -October 31st at the Art-trium Gallery located at 24 Melville Park Rd., Melville, NY 11747. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday 7am-7pm Saturdays 8am-1pm. "Water is the substance that allows all life on our planet to exist. Earliest man first settled near shorelines and built our first communities and with that our earliest artists began to record their impressions of the wonders that water held - both as a life necessity and an object of beauty", William Grabowski, curator of Art-trium Gallery, The "WaterWorld" exhibit gives Huntington Arts Council member artists, Sang Hung Chung, Shawn McAvoy, Teri Herzog, David Jaycox Jr. and Robert R. Weiss the opportunity to use their skills to interpret many of the ways water engages our lives. Art-trium Gallery is supported in part by 25 MPR, NYSCA, Town of Huntington, and Suffolk County of Cultural Affairs. Founded in 1963, the Huntington Arts Council is a not-for-profit organization which enriches the quality of life of Long Islanders with programs and services that address the needs and interests of artists, cultural organizations and the community. The Council's programs reach over one million Long Island residents, and it serves the entire region with its cultural listings at www.huntingtonarts.org. The Huntington Arts Council has been designated a "Primary Institution" by the New York State Council on the Arts, a title meaning "vital to the cultural life of New York State." The Council is the official arts coordinating agency for the Town of Huntington, and serves as the primary regranting agency on Long Island for the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA), in addition to its services to over 600 member cultural organizations and individual artist members. Programs are made possible in part by funding from the New York State Council on the Arts, the Town of Huntington, the Suffolk County Department of Cultural Affairs, the Suffolk County Delegation of the New York State Senate and Assembly, JP Morgan Chase, corporations, foundations and individuals.
