Nesconset, NY - September 8, 2014 - On Sunday, September 7, 2014, the Nesconset Chamber of Commerce hosted their Annual Nesconset Day Street Fair, which featured Legislator John M. Kennedy’s 2014 “Out for Blood” Blood Drive Tour, making it’s annual stop from 11:00am to 5:00pm on Smithtown Boulevard. To date, Legislator Kennedy has taken his annual blood drive tour to Smithtown, Centereach, Commack, Hauppauge, Lake Grove, Ronkonkoma and now Nesconset, with blood drives yet to be held at the Smithtown Historical Society, Saint James Day Festival, and the last one at our office.
If you have not been able to donate thus far, you still have three more opportunities to come down and donate not one but two times, as we continue to aid New York Blood Center in their efforts in collecting as much blood from donors as possible, as the blood drought continues. “We needed a strong turnout in Nesconset and we got it. At the next drive, we need to not just match the Nesconset numbers, but to build upon those numbers and get a large amount of donors, we need to hope for a record setting day blood donors. We need to have a very strong turnout at the Smithtown Historical Society and beyond.” said Legislator Kennedy.
The event had great success as nearly 50 people donated blood. We also received help from the Suffolk County Police Explorers Post 410. The Explorer program is a program for individuals between the ages of 14 to 21, who may be interested in pursuing law enforcement as a possible career choice. Post 410 is based out of the Fourth Precinct, led by Officer Gourlay, and Officer Olson.
If you missed the Nesconset Day Street Fair, Legislator Kennedy and the “Out For Blood” Tour shall be at the Smithtown Historical Society on 239 East Main Street, on Sunday, September 21. Please come and enjoy the wide variety of vendors and fun activities that will be on hand at the Smithtown Historical Society and don’t forget to stop by Legislator Kennedy’s table and help to save lives by donating blood.
